Raised in Hawaii, Chris grew up playing in the ocean. A professional windsurfer in his teens and a lifelong surfer, he moved from Maui to Oahu to attend college. Post-graduation, he worked various jobs and later moved to Tahoe to pursue another extreme sport, snowboarding. Longing for the ocean and tropical island lifestyle, he moved back home to Hawaii and began pursuing video work. While shooting surf for his video production company, he would often think how nice it would be to develop high-resolution photographs of some of his footage. Inevitably he turned to photography and has loved it since, often times saying, "With video, you can only watch it so many times--but you can look at a beautiful picture hanging on your wall every day and enjoy it."
Chris enjoys the rush and extreme aspect of surf photography. He loves capturing the beauty and power that Mother Nature has to offer and sharing it for others to enjoy. Through his photographs, Chris hopes that people are transported to surreal moments, offering them an escape from the average hustle-bustle of mundane activity.
